Navy Recreation Center
Sunday, August 31, 2003

On the last Friday in August, we got a call from our booking agency asking us if we could fill in at a very late notice for a band that had cancelled unexpectedly. They wanted us to play on Sunday night for a Labor Day bash at the Navy Recreation Center in Solomons, MD (about 80 miles to the south, off the Patuxent River). Fortunately, we were all available (even though our bassist Paul had to juggle his vacation schedule). We had a great time, and the crowd was very large and very enthusiastic! We played from 7:30 to 10:30, with our stage right off the Patuxent River. It was a fantastic venue to play, and the staff treated us just outstandingly. They even put us up for the night in one of the camp cabins! But the best part was seeing the marquee board as we drove into the complex (see below). We certainly hope that we will be able to return again for future concerts.
