Although I usually play other people's songs, occasionally I write my own
whenever inspiration hits me. I wrote this song back in the late 90's, and
have been wanting to record a demo of it for some time. Finally, in June of 2013,
I called up my talented musician friend Kim Taulbee and asked if we could
try to knock it out. I played the basic melody for him on the piano along
with a temp drum track, and then I laid down the vocals in multiple takes.
Although I had originally envisioned the song being sung by a female artist
with a minimal backup band consisting of keys, bass and drums, Kim took it in the
opposite direction and gave it a big brassy sound, complete with a B3 organ
and awesome BGVs! I love his take on my song, but still plan to eventually
record it in my laid back "jazz club" style. Enjoy!!
